Launch of education series

Last updated: 31 Oct 2025

The Inspector-General of Water Compliance (IGWC) has launched a new education series, “Australia’s Murray-Darling Basin”. This eight-part online series runs for about 67 minutes. It aims to improve awareness and understanding of the Murray-Darling Basin (the Basin).

The Basin is an amazing resource and includes rivers, wetlands, lakes, and floodplains. It supplies water to over 3 million people. This water is vital for drinking, farming, business, industry, tourism, recreation, and First Nations culture. Spanning roughly 14% of Australia's land mass, this region produces about 40% of our food and fibre.

We invite you to view Australia’s Murray-Darling Basin, produced by the IGWC. Please share the link to the series on your social networks. Support IGWC and our communities to boost Basin literacy and fill the education information gap.
