The Inspector-General of Water Compliance is an independent integrity agency. It oversees the performance of Murray–Darling Basin governments and agencies under the Basin Plan 2012 and Water Act 2007.
To achieve this, the agency needs to:
- ensure the clarity of roles and responsibilities with Basin governments and agencies
- enable collaboration where this assists its monitoring and oversight role.
The terms of this collaboration are set out in memoranda of understanding. The Inspector-General has set out separate terms of collaboration with:
- the Murray–Darling Basin Authority. View this MOU on the Murray–Darling Basin site(Opens in a new tab/window).
- Basin State governments.
